Favorite High School Memory

I hardly remember going to school at all because I was working in the work program (whatever it was called?) and I only showed up to school to hand in my hours. I know I had to go to a few classes but for the life of me cannot remember any of them!

Most Embarrassing Moment

Showing up to graduation in brown shoes instead of white ones. Somehow I missed that detail in the paperwork.

Comments:

I left high school without a clue of what I wanted to do, but did attend BCC for one semester before I decided to join the USAF. I took that time to sow a lot of wild oats and somehow survived without getting into major trouble! I joined the Air Force in November 1981 and married Bob Cutlip while stationed in Valdosta, GA for all four years of service. Bob and I divorced in May 1986. I moved back to Cocoa and worked at Service Merchandise until 1988 when my sister, Robin Thomas, asked me to move to Atlanta, GA and help her with her new interior design business. I met Greg Deaver on a blind date in March 1989 and we married in August 1989; we have been married 20 years. We moved to the Melbourne area for a couple of years, but decided we liked the Atlanta area better.

Greg and I were not able to have children together, but we were both very involved in his daughter's lives. Amber and Tiffany are just like my own. Amber is still single and trying to find her way in life. Amber has an Associates Degree in Criminal Science but has chosen to stay in the restaurant field. She will be going through the management program for IHOP this year. Tiffany has been married to Allen Shacklock for almost 4 years and they have a very handsome son named Caden Allen. All of us are living in the Atlanta area and get together often. Caden spends at least one long weekend every month with us and he is such a joy to have around.

Robin Thomas, my step-sister, lives on the same street as Greg and I; she has a son who is 19 years old and going to Oglethorpe University in Atlanta.

Robert Thomas and Terry Cottrill, my brothers, still both live in Melbourne. Robert is an electrician and has been working at the KSC for many years on various projects. Robert is married and is raising 3 teen aged boys. Terry is a handyman and is not currently in a relationship.

Both of my parents live in the Melbourne area, although they are divorced, we all still get together for family functions about once or twice a year.

Greg's father passed away 5 years ago, but his mother lives in the Atlanta area. Greg has a brother, Chuck, that lives in the area but we rarely see him.

I get to Melbourne about once a year and my sister, Vicky Zemkoski (Cottrill) comes up and visits once or twice a year with her family. Vicky is married to Steve Zemkoski and they are raising 3 daughters together. Vicky has a daughter, Ashlee (27), from her previous marriage to Chuck Yates, also. Ashlee graduated from Melbourne High, graduated from FSU, and is currently a store manager for Target Corporation (one of the youngest ever). The Zemkoski family owns The Shack Restaurant in Palm Bay. Brianna Zemkoski graduated from MCC last year; Chelsea and Anna Zemkoski will graduate from Central High next year.

Greg and I own a painting and cabinet making business. We started the business in the summer of 1996 and it has thrived ever since. The last couple of years have not been as profitable but still thriving.

Greg and I started scuba diving about 6 years ago and have been on a few really cool trips. My favorite place to scuba dive is in Cozumel. We have also been to Turks and Caicos, Bonaire, and the Bahamas. We really enjoy the sport and Greg takes fantastic pictures! You can see his pictures on www.frogman50@photoshop.com.
Greg plays a little golf and rides mountain bikes, also.

I am very active in the College Park Woman's Club, College Park Historical Society, and Historic College Park Neighborhood Association. I love organizing fund raisers for these organizations.

I like to cook and love to host dinner parties for friends and family. Give me a theme or reason and I can throw a great party!

Greg and I have a nice life here in College Park, Ga and we are still very much in love with each other. We may not be rich by most standards but we are comfortable and happy. We look forward to growing old together and spending time with friends. Hopefully, we will be able to go scuba diving in some exotic places before we get too old.

Life is Good!
